Born in Hong Kong in 1959, Chan Yuk Keung graduated from the Department of Fine Arts of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1983 and later completed his Master of Fine Arts in painting at the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Michigan, the United States. He started teaching Western media design course in the Department of Fine Arts of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and was the course leader of the Master of Fine Arts program there. He participated in over 80 international exhibitions. His research interests are Hong Kong's local art, mixed media art and public art. He was the editor of the Hong Kong Visual Arts Yearbook since 2000, the art governor of City Art Square and also the advisor of the Asia Art Archive.

After retirement from the university teaching assignment, he undertakes mentorship for emerging artists, art program consultation for Hong Kong Art School. He also spent the last few years exploring the poetics in Chinese ink brush and calligraphy, in connection with dialogues in our daily lives.

His art installation "The Intersection of Axes" is currently featured in the "New Horizons: Ways of Seeing Hong Kong Art in the 80s and 90s" exhibition at The Lab, 5/F., Hong Kong Museum of Art, 05.03.2021 - 22.04.2022.
