Lee Man Yip

"I make individual functional ceramic pieces by using local clay and wood ash. Most of my pots are ash-glazed and are all high-fired at stoneware temperature (1260°C)."

Trained in Fine Art at Kingston University in London back in the 1970s,
Lee Man Yip was one of the first potters exhibiting at the Pottery Workshop (HK) in the 1980s. Putting aside his passion in ceramics for nearly 25 years, Lee picks up clay and glazes again a few years ago - experimenting with various types of locally sourced Wo Hang Clay with, in particular, wood ash glazes, and with whichever day-to-day tools and edibles he comes across.
